Green, OH: Beginning November 8, 2004, US Airways Express will offer nonstop service to

Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) from Akron-Canton Airport (CAK). The service will replace flights previously offered to Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT). The carrier will offer three daily flights to Philadelphia and five daily flights to Charlotte from CAK, aboard 50- and 70-passenger regional jets.  This enhanced schedule is wonderful news for Northeast Ohio travelers,. said airport director Fred Krum.  US Airways has served our community for more than forty years. We look forward to their continued growth and success in the market.

We are pleased to bring increased frequency and capacity to Akron-Canton, bringing our local

passengers even greater access to our network, including one-stop service to nearly 25 Caribbean destinations,. said Andrew P. Nocella, US Airways vice president of network and revenue management.

From Charlotte and Philadelphia, US Airways offers convenient connections to Europe and the Caribbean.  Additionally, US Airways is part of the Star Alliance offering additional flight options aboard Alliance partners. Flights to Charlotte and Philadelphia are now available for purchase at or by calling a travel consultant.

The Boyd Group of Evergreen, Colorado, recently ranked Akron-Canton as the number one fastest growing airport in the country (2003-2008). To accommodate the additional passengers, CAK is currently in phase three of the $60 million, five-year STAR expansion project including longer runways, an expanded terminal (including a new second-level loading concourse and a food court with national brands) and a new interchange south of the airport at Shuffel Road.
