Akron-Canton Airport has busiest August of all time, second best month in history

Green, OH:  Stunned. Delighted! Humbled. Jazzed! So many feelings for so many fresh new faces finding Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) a better way to go for their air travel. In August, a total of 153,976 passengers graced our doors making it the 3rd consecutive month that more than 150,000 Customers traveled through the airport. The August number beat our previous busiest August set in 2010, by 6,797 passengers, a 4.6
increase. For the first eight months of the year, 1,091,359 total travelers flew CAK, a 3.9 percent increase compared to 2010.
  “Customers continue to try CAK for the first time,” said Rick McQueen, president and CEO. “Our low fares and relaxing airport experience are a big draw. We will work tirelessly to keep them coming back time and time again.”
Customers aboard AirTran Airways, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Southwest Airlines, increased 3 percent compared to August 2010 carrying 71,000 passengers to six nonstop destinations including Orlando, Tampa, Atlanta, Milwaukee, New York and Boston. Delta Air Lines, offering nonstop flights to Atlanta and Detroit, was up 21 percent compared to last year carrying 30,900.  US Airways, offering nonstop flights to Charlotte, Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia, gained 4 percent with 21,300 total Customers. With 18,000 passengers, Frontier Airlines with nonstop flights to Denver gained 2 percent.
