Akron-Canton Airport has busiest September of all time

Green, OH:  There are a million things to do in September but usually,
travel isn’t one of them. Well, you can’t tell that to the record number of travelers that used Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) last month! In September, a total of 138,846 Customers traveled through the airport. The September number beat our previous busiest September set in 2010, by 13,811 passengers, an 11
percent increase. For the first nine months of the year, 1,230,205 total travelers flew CAK, a 4.6 percent increase compared to 2010.

Customers aboard AirTran Airways, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Southwest Airlines, increased 16 percent compared to September 2010 carrying 64,300 passengers to six nonstop destinations including Orlando, Tampa, Atlanta, Milwaukee, New York and Boston. Delta Air Lines, offering nonstop flights to Atlanta and Detroit, was up 35 percent compared to last year carrying 28,730. With 16,600 passengers, Frontier Airlines with nonstop flights to Denver gained 9 percent.  US Airways, offering nonstop flights to Charlotte, Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia, gained 3 percent with 20,800 total Customers.
