Akron-Canton Airport to Host Second TSA PreCheck Enrollment Event
More than 900 local residents took advantage of the TSA PreCheck enrollment event hosted by Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) in February, so in response CAK is hosting a second enrollment event. The event will be held at the airport from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and 2-5 p.m. during the week of April 18-21, 2017.
“The enormous reception of our first enrollment event far exceeded our expectations of 250 sign-ups, so we are hosting a second to meet the demand of our community,” said Rick McQueen, President and CEO of the Akron-Canton Airport. “We’re delighted to offer the opportunity for our Customers to enroll in the program close to work and home, saving time and hassle.”
TSA PreCheck membership allows low-risk air travelers to use TSA PreCheck lanes not only at CAK but also at more than 190 airports throughout the U.S. The program expedites the screening process for members by eliminating the need to remove items such as shoes, 3-1-1 liquids, laptops, light outerwear or belts before passing through, reducing the overall screening time.
Starting early February 2017, TSA has significantly reduced access to TSA PreCheck expedited screening for non-enrolled travelers. TSA strongly recommends that frequent flyers (3 or more round trips per year) enroll in a Department of Homeland Security trusted traveler program such as TSA PreCheck to obtain access to expedited screening when going through airport security.
Registering for the TSA PreCheck enrollment event is easy. Applicants choose the appointment date and time that fits their schedule, and complete the online portion of the application by visiting identogo.com/precheck.
During the on-site appointment, proof of identification and U.S. citizen documentation will be required to complete the process. All applicants will be fingerprinted for background checks. The enrollment fee of $85 is good for a five-year TSA PreCheck membership.
The event will be held in the second floor conference room at Akron-Canton Airport, located at 5400 Lauby Road NW, North Canton, OH 44720. Parking will be validated for the appointment time.
