US AIRWAYS EXPRESS TO BEGIN SERVICE TO PHILADELPIA AND CHARLOTTE
FROM AKRON-CANTON AIRPORT
Green, OH: Beginning November 8, 2004, US Airways Express will offer nonstop service to
Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) and Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT) from Akron-Canton Airport (CAK). The service will replace flights previously offered to Pittsburgh International Airport (PIT). The carrier will offer three daily flights to Philadelphia and five daily flights to Charlotte from CAK, aboard 50- and 70-passenger regional jets. This enhanced schedule is wonderful news for Northeast Ohio travelers,. said airport director Fred Krum. US Airways has served our community for more than forty years. The Boyd Group of Evergreen, Colorado, recently ranked Akron-Canton as the number one fastest growing airport in the country (2003-2008). To accommodate the additional passengers, CAK is currently in phase three of the $60 million, five-year STAR expansion project including longer runways, an expanded terminal (including a new second-level loading concourse and a food court with national brands) and a new interchange south of the airport at Shuffel Road.
