Akron-Canton Airport Launches Virtual Reality Experience of Airfield

Interactive VR Airfield Experience is First in Nation

GREEN, OH - Today, the Akron-Canton Airport launches an interactive virtual reality experience of the CAK airfield.

The VR experience found at akroncantonairport.com allows the community to see aircraft take off and land in a way that’s interactive and easy to access.

“We’re excited to offer the general public a 360 degree, virtual view of the airfield and all of the daily action at CAK,” said Lisa Dalpiaz, Akron-Canton Airport Director of Marketing. “We receive inquiries nearly every day from folks asking where they can watch aircraft land and take off, and now the airfield is accessible to everyone from their phone or computer.”

With tightened airport security throughout the country, most observation decks have closed, including the deck that was once located at CAK. Still wanting to let the public experience the thrill of aircraft soaring and the buzz of an airfield, this VR experience is the next best thing.

The VR experience gives viewers an even closer perspective of aircraft taking off, landing and taxiing. Plus, fun factoids about the airport are placed throughout the video for viewers to find.

Through a related contest, the airport is allowing the opportunity for aviation enthusiasts and plane spotters to get a behind the scenes tour of the airport, and the chance to take photos and video of the action up close. Those interested can sign up for the contest on the airport’s website, akroncantonairport.com.

Of course, those looking to experience the airport action in-person can choose to fly nonstop from CAK to 12 nonstop destinations or just one-stop to the world. But in the meantime, kick back and enjoy the airport through your screen.
