The Akron-Canton Airport Authority’s Board of Trustees is pleased to announce the hire of Renato “Ren” Camacho as Akron-Canton Airport’s new President & CEO. Mr. Camacho will officially join the team on October 1, 2018. He replaces Rick McQueen who will retire December 31, 2018.
“On behalf of the board, we would like to thank Rick for his 36 years of exceptional service to the airport and community,” said Christopher J. Holding, Akron-Canton Airport Board of Trustees Chair. "He has been an integral part of the airport’s growth and accomplishments, and we are thankful for his dedication.”
Mr. Camacho comes from the City of Cleveland’s Department of Port Control which oversees Cleveland Hopkins International Airport (CLE), Burke Lakefront Airport (BKL), and Lakefront Harbors. Prior to his time in Cleveland, Mr. Camacho spent 14 years in the engineering department of the Port Authority of NY/NJ.
In his over 25 years of experience, he has managed capital programs, executed critical traffic planning, design and construction projects, and implemented over $300M of both federally- and locally-funded strategic projects.

"He has a track record of strong leadership, capital improvement execution, and is well respected among his peers in the aviation industry. Mr. Camacho will continue to take our airport to the next level as we invest in customer experience, air service and economic development.”
The airport authority board voted unanimously to hire Mr. Camacho at its July 19thboard meeting.

The Board of Trustees conducted a national search with ADK Executive Search, an executive search firm that focuses on searches for senior management and executive level leadership, specializing in the aviation industry. Forty-three applicants were considered in the process.
Mr. Camacho received his Master’s Degree in Transportation Planning & Engineering from NYU/Polytechnic University and Bachelor of Science from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. He is an Accredited Airport Executive (A.A.E.), a registered professional engineer in the state of Ohio, a Professional Traffic Operations Engineer, and is actively engaged in multiple leadership initiatives.
