Green, OH: The Akron-Canton Airport (CAK) is happy to announce that United Airlines will begin nonstop service to Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD) beginning May 8, 2020. Three daily flights to Washington Dulles are scheduled aboard the CRJ-200 aircraft.
The start of service to CAK is part of United’s strategic plan to shift select domestic routes from Newark to Washington Dulles to maximize the strengths of each hub and provide a more seamless travel experience for customers. This will create 100 net-new seats per day from CAK.
“Our new service to Akron-Canton opens up many new options for our customers to easily get to our Washington hub and beyond,” said Ankit Gupta, United Airlines’ vice president of Domestic Network Planning. “The new route will offer increased access to connecting flights, additional opportunities to serve our customers and deliver on our commitment of connecting people and uniting the world.”
The new CAK to Dulles route creates unique international connections such as Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, Heathrow, Tel Aviv, Zurich and more. The additional flights between Akron-Canton and United’s hub at Washington Dulles International Airport will provide customers opportunities to connect to the United’s nearly 270 domestic and more than 30 international flights.
“Washington Dulles International Airport is a fantastic addition to the United network from CAK,” said Akron-Canton Airport President and CEO, Ren Camacho. “United’s new service will diversify schedules in the D.C. area, create access to the Southeastern United network, and connect our community to the globe through a world class airport.”
In addition to the new Washington Dulles service, United also offers daily, nonstop flights from CAK to Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD) and George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). Flights can be booked on united.com, through a travel management company or through a favorite online booking website.
CAK customers will still enjoy nonstop service to New York City aboard American Airlines to LaGuardia, which has recently undergone an $8 billion redevelopment program.
