Now Arriving at Akron-Canton Airport: Royal Docks Airport Taproom

CAK Adds New Flavor for Travelers Seeking Local Options

A renovated, 40-seat dining area replicates the original Royal Docks Taproom, located in Jackson Township. Beloved by the local community, and embraced by the broader region, it’s an exciting day for the Akron-Canton Airport to announce such a dynamic partnership.

“Travelers are looking to taste and experience local flavor, and we’re pleased to present Royal Docks Brewing Company to both residents and visitors of our region,” said Ren Camacho, President and CEO of the Akron-Canton Airport. “This concession is the first step of many in CAK’s new approach to introduce fresh, local options to the terminal. We trust this launch of a regional favorite will give travelers a sneak peek into what our community offers.”

The much-anticipated local offering is one of many. As the airport undergoes a $34 million CAK Gate Modernization and Expansion program, a new infusion of locally crafted food and merchandise is on the horizon.

“I say this on behalf of everyone at Royal Docks, we are so excited to be a part of the ongoing improvements at CAK but also humbled to represent the area with this opportunity,” Royal Docks founder John Bikis said. “The focus on local flavor and representation is important not just to Royal Docks but also CAK and the area. Local keeps Northeast Ohio humming!”

Concessions at the airport have always carried some merchandise that reflects the Akron-Canton and Northeast Ohio region, but customers can expect that to greatly increase in the next 2-3 years.

“As we continue to explore avenues to make CAK a better way to go, and we find ways to do just that by listening to our customers,” said CAK President and CEO, Ren Camacho. “Through one-on-one conversations, groups forums, social media and surveys, we know that our community and our visitors are looking for ‘local’ when they land at the airport. We’re pleased to add Royal Docks Airport Taproom in response.”

Travelers can look forward to tasty offerings such as Bavarian Pretzels, PB&J Bacon Tots and Royal Docks Signature Flatbreads including the popular Royal Scotch Egg with garlic spread, sausage crumbles, boiled egg & mixed cheese. Each item can be paired with brewery classics like the Hödfellow Pils, VLAD Imperial Stout and Dare IPA.

Specifically brewed for the airport taproom year-round is “CAKtus IPA”. CAKtus Double IPA is a collaboration between Ohio brewers R. Shea Brewing in Akron and Royal Docks in Canton originally released at the First Annual North Canton Craft Beer Festival held in May 2019 at the MAPS museum on the campus of the Akron-Canton Airport.
