FOR THE FIRST TIME IN AIRPORT HISTORY, AKRON-CANTON WELCOMES

ONE MILLIONTH PASSENGER

Green, OH: On AirTran Airways flight 202 arriving from New York.s LaGuardia airport, is the one millionth passenger to pass through the airport during 2003. The aircraft arrives at 11:38

a.m. at gate 7.

"Thanks to the million passengers that made this day possible," said airport director

Fred Krum. "We work for you. This is a great opportunity to renew our team.s commitment to

serving you all, providing a safe and excellent facility. Your great experience is our triumph."

The airport has been steadily adding passengers since 1996 when AirTran Airways began

service here. Since their humble start with one daily flight to Orlando, the airline has since added Atlanta, New York and Tampa to its nonstop offerings from Akron-Canton Airport (CAK). AirTran's growth prompted other airlines to add capacity, positioning the airport as one of the fastest growing in the nation. The global networks offered by Delta Connection, US Airways Express, Northwest Airlink, and United Express, also provide valuable airline service and connectivity to the world from CAK.

In a recent ranking published by the Boyd Group of Evergreen Colorado, between 2000-

2008, CAK was named the third fastest growing airport in the country with a 55% increase in

passengers expected.

"Akron-Canton is strategically positioned to benefit from the growth of low

cost carriers," remarks Michael Boyd. "Good fares coupled with a great passenger experience will keep people coming well into the future," he added.

The airport authority, its tenants and special guest Dr. Evil (of Austin Powers fame) will help celebrate this historic event. The one millionth passenger will receive a variety of generously

donated gifts to commemorate the day including:
