GREEN, OH - As the highly anticipated solar eclipse approaches on April 8th, CAK reaffirms its commitment to providing travelers with a seamless and stress-free journey.

Recognizing the significance of this celestial event and the anticipated increase in visitors to the region, the airport is implementing several measures to ensure convenience for all passengers.

1. In line with CAK’s priority of ensuring safety for all airport users, parking lot and terminal lights will be kept on throughout the eclipse.
2. To mitigate traffic congestion and facilitate smooth traffic flow in front of the airport, CAK has partnered with the Summit County Sheriff's Office to provide additional traffic assistance at the main entrance of the airport. This collaboration aims to minimize delays for travelers using I-77 and Lauby Rd.
3. Airport staff will be stationed at terminal drop-off and pick-up areas to manage traffic effectively. By dedicating these areas exclusively to travelers, CAK aims to optimize efficiency and ensure that passengers can access the terminal with ease.
4. Airport access roads intended for aeronautical use will not be open for the general viewing areas. These will be monitored and only accessible for intended users to keep business operating.
5. Travelers are urged to monitor traffic conditions ahead of their flights. Road congestion is anticipated to peak after the eclipse occurs, most viewers will leave 15 minutes after totality.
6. General aviation pilots are urged to submit their flight plans to the fixed-base operator at CAK to reserve space.
